When making CIS puzzles (as you know, Antony, this is by far the most common style in Norway and quite many other countries), one can choose Font Size/lines per square individually for each Clue square.
When one Clue square is used for two separate Clues, the dividing line between the upper and lower Clue "steals" one of the lines: The setting being, let's say four, one has only three lines available for the combined Clue texts, as the fourth line is the dividing line itself.
If one changes the setting to five lines, 2+2 or 3+1 lines can be used for the actual Clue texts, but the font size then decreases so much that it often becomes unnecessarily hard to read in the magazines.
My question is: Would it be possible to implement extra "half lines" in the Font Size settings, so that "4 1/2 lines" meant you could have a total of four lines with Clue texts, plus one, or maybe even two, dividing line(s)? "3 1/2 lines" would also be a very useful setting, and, in a few cases, even "5 1/2 lines".
Such a change - I am here comparing the "4 lines" and the "4 1/2 lines" options - would also increase the maximum number of letters in one line from (most of the time) six to (most of the time) seven, something which would be extremely helpful. |
