i was allowed to use version 7 by a friend, liked it, and so purchased and downloaded version 8. i have my own website, and every time i try to publish online, which i was able to do onto my own website with version 7, i get this error message:

error reading crossword file. check puzzlename.jpz is uploaded and readable.

i should add that whenever i double-click the .html file on my desktop, it loads locally into the browser and works fine.

help, please!

Check you uploaded the .jpz file to the website with the .html file, and that you can load the file from your web browser.

(On Windows Server systems you may need to add .jpz as a file type in IIS.)
