Hello,

I'm looking for some guide to start making a good puzzle. I know how the program works, but what's the best way to start. Do I have fill in the longest words first or should I start with the shortest one? What's the best way to cross words with each other so I can fill in more words that crossing other words. Now, when I fill in a few words and try to cross another word, it's impossible to do that, because the letters don't match with each other.

With clues in squares: what's the best way to make a perfect puzzle. Without having some blank squares left at the end.
You can't put the first word across in the first square, because then there is no room for clue squares left for crossing words.

Thanks,

Peter

For a setter's story covering the complete construction process, this may be of interest:

The article is based on a 15x15 UK cryptic puzzle.
