| I have been looking at the solver and it works well for me. But it only works with exported xml files - not the puzzle files that the compiler works with. Is that correct ? Also I would like to know if the solver is working without java. I know that it is corporate policy in many companies to restrict java, because they regard it a security risk. In the company I am working, the applet crosswords does not work for that same reason. |

That's right - it opens files for solving not Crossword Compiler files. You can use Save As to save as XML, or Web Page Export to make an applet file - the solver can open both.
It does use Java. I don't really see why it is more insecure than installing any other program, but I could look at bundling the JRE so the Java-nature is less obvious - are programs like that also blocked? |
